A27 Chichester Bypass resurfacing

What are we planning to do?
We will be carrying out work to resurface the A27 Chichester Bypass between Stockbridge and Portfield roundabouts, and also carrying out some technical renewal work at the Bognor Road Roundabout in order to illuminate five ‘keep left’ signs on the roundabout.

When will work start and how long will it take?
The work will take place overnight from Monday 27 January until Thursday 20 February, weather permitting. It will be carried out between 8pm and 6am each night.

Why do we want to do this work?
We are carrying out this work to improve road user safety along the A27 and prolong the carriageway life reducing the need for emergency repairs. The technical renewals will increase visibility of the ‘keep left’ signs on Bognor Road Roundabout.

How will we carry out this work and how will it affect you?
In order to carry out the work there will be full carriageway closures of the A27 Chichester Bypass with road users being diverted through Chichester. Road users will be diverted via Fishbourne Roundabout, onto the A259, A286 and A285 before joining the A27 at Portfield Roundabout.

Work of this nature does generate disruption and inevitably a certain amount of noise.   Efforts will be made to reduce this wherever possible. We appreciate your understanding and tolerance of the works until they are completed.
